Just a brief update of the latest book news -- the latest Falco adventure Alexandria is due in 2009. The previous novel, Saturnalia is now available in hardback in most countries.

Also, like Mt. Vesuvius, this web site isn't extinct; it's just dorment.

4th June 2004

The latest Falco adventure Scandal Takes a Holiday was published in the UK on the 3rd June 2004.

This story is set in Ostia among the world of gossip-columns, pirates, kidnappers and assassings. Also, according to the Amazon synopsis, Falco finally gets to the meet the uncle that "nobody ever talks about". Life as usual for the Falco house-hold then?

When I've got my copy and read it, I shall be adding it to the Novels section.

Beware the Ides of March!

2047 years ago today (Ides Mar. 44 BC) Julius Caesar was assassinated outsite the Theatre of Pompey where he was due to meet with the Senate. In honour of this day I have selected an excellent link from the archives all about the life of Gaius Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar: The Last Dictator. A Biography Of Caesar And Rome.

New poll! There is a new Falcophiles poll this month, plus the results of the previous poll are now available. This month I want to know what your favourite Falco location is. Do you enjoy his adventures in Italy, or further afield in Germania, Britannia, Palmyra and so on? Cast your vote on the home page.

Last month's poll about other authors reveals that 38% of you prefer Steven Saylor about colleen McCullough (23%), Rosemary Sutcliff (18%), Robert Graves (12%) and John Maddox Roberts (9%).

9th February 2003

After a hiatus of over a year, the FalcoPhiles opinion polls are back! The first poll concerns other authors of Roman novels -- so apart from Lindsey Davis, which other author do you like to read most? I've picked five of the most-often-mentioned authors who I think are published (or at least known) internationally. The choice does not reflect my own reading prejudices - in fact a couple of the people on the list wouldn't be there if it WAS my choice, and a couple of others would be there who aren't.

Please don't write in to complain "so and so isn't there" - it's not a scientific poll! I might repeat the poll in future with another short list of authors, and then combine the most popular of the two lists into one final poll.

You can now give each novel stars out of 5 when you use the "Reader Comments" feature. The scores are NOT averaged, so they can not be manipulated. Each individual's score stands on it's own.
